Multifarious is seeking a software engineer for project work as well as product work in current and future joint ventures.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer with a blend of formal training (BS or better in Computer Science or Mathematics) and professional experience (e.g., Amazon or other large-scale SAAS) who thrives in a dynamic, unstructured environment. The focus is solely on designing and delivering great software — no pagers and no politics.

The position is full-time at Multifarious HQ in Seattle and includes the usual perquisites — vacation/sick time, health/dental benefits, and a flexible schedule. Compensation is above-market and commensurate with capability.

Requirements

The following technologies are the baseline for virtually all Multifarious projects:

• Java or Scala.
• Server-side Open Source Java: Jetty/Tomcat, JAX-RS, Spring, JPA (Hibernate).
• Maven and Ant.
• Git and Subversion.
• UNIX basics: bash, sed, awk, cut, bc.

Nice to Have

• Lucene (and Solr).
• Hadoop.
• "NoSQL" (Cassandra, Voldemort, CouchDB, HBase, or Riak).
• Functional languages on the JVM (Scala, Clojure) or off (Erlang, Haskell).
• Automation of deployments and management on Amazon EC2 and S3.
